June Edwards

June Edwards recently retired from Slippery Rock University, where she taught graphic design, digital media, and beginning painting classes. Her MFA in painting was earned at Brooklyn College, and she has a BS in Art Education from Mansfield University. June worked for many years in the graphic design field in New York City and continued with freelance graphic design after moving to the Pittsburgh area. Her interest in the remnants of western Pennsylvania’s abandoned industrial structures provides the basis for her mixed media artwork. She combines and adjusts digital images of equipment, architecture, towers and other structures, and uses various painting and drawing media on the printed surfaces. The prints are often cut apart, layered and reassembled into dimensional compositions. June’s artwork has been exhibited in regional, national and international exhibitions.
