Originally the Loew's and United Artists' Penn Theatre built in the 1920's, This building was purchased in 1967 and renovated to be the new home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Heinz Hall was opened in 1971 bearing the last name of one of the major benefactors of the project, H.J. Heinz II.
