Arpita Choudhury is a self-taught artist and illustrator who lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her husband, daughter, and two spoiled cats. She is a lapsed marine biologist who loves nature, vintage picture books, miniatures, history, chocolate, and a good murder mystery. Arpita has experience in magazine illustration, product and packaging design, as well as logo design. She is currently illustrating her first picture book for Islandport Press.
She goes by the business name Fern Spike Art. The name fern spike comes from paleontology. An abundance of ferns can sometimes be found in the fossil record after a catastrophic event-thus a fern spike. Ferns are one of the first plants to appear to help a beleaguered ecosystem heal. There is always hope for a new day and a new beginning.
