PSI CONFIRMED EVENTS FOR 2024 (updated 6/27/2024) (others to be added as they are confirmed)

UPCOMING PROGRAMS-Watch for final dates and times.

Giuseppe Castellano, Founder of The Illustration Department, and host of The Illustration Department Podcast, will present to PSI on Sept. 7
PSI is presenting Giuseppe Castellano for an intimate afternoon of presentations on Saturday September 7. The venue and times are still being worked out.

Giuseppe was previously art director at Penguin Random House and Simon and Schuster and is now the founder of The Illustration Department. He is one of the most respected voices advocating for illustration in the contemporary marketplace, and his mentorships and workshops, especially in the children's book field, are exemplary.

Giuseppe Castellano, has accepted PSI's offer to host him for an exclusive presentation to our members on Sat. afternoon Sept. 7. To learn more about him, check out: illustrationdept.com/about, as well as his Illustration podcast: https://illustrationdept.com/podcast

For his presentation to PSI, Giuseppe plans to focus on two subjects: his speciality, Kid Lit, as well as self promotion for illustrators.

Please see Basecamp thread on this event to let us know you are coming. We need to know numbers to plan the venue properly.
We are encouraging a huge turnout as this is valuable for every illustrator seeking to create marketing tools that cut through the noise.

PSI has a tentative date of Thursday October 10 for a presentation by Caldecott Award-winning illustrator Noa Denmon at The Hub in Westview. Thank you to Frances Halley for getting the ball rolling on this presentation. Take a minute to check out Noa's work, and please come out and hear about her career and hopefully convince her to join PSI as a new member. Here is a link to her website and her Instagram:  http://noadenmon.com/illustration  @noadenmon
Other details for this event will be updated soon. The Hub in Westview is located at:435 Perry Hwy, West View, PA 15229
only 10 minutes off I-279.

Please come on out to J. Gough's Tavern in Squirrel Hill, 4213 Murray Avenue, PGH PA 15217, continuing our second Tuesday socials on Tuesday September 10 through November 12, 2024, and share your current work, have a drink, enjoy some PSI complimentary snacks from the delicious J. Meetings

Social Meetings have been held almost every month since our founding in late 1996.
Think Happy Hour! Since 1996, PSI has hosted socials to relieve freelance isolation and expose everyone to the work of other members. Join us for informal shop talk along with great food and drink at different centrally located restaurants or at member home/studios. Appetizers supplied by PSI. All members and prospective members welcome!
The “Business of Illustration” Meetings
These programs cycle through member's home/studios and various public spots (like the Hub in West View) around Pittsburgh. The night typically includes a presentation by a member or outside speaker and networking. Attendees should bring a beverage and/or a snack to share. Locations and featured artists are posted on the PSI website and distributed via Basecamp announcements.
